How to make an elastic neckline using the Burda Sadie pattern as a guide

    Step 1 of 9

This is my first How-To; I hope it makes sense! Ok, first, I used the Sadie 6019 pattern as a guide (outlined in purple in the picture). I extended the shoulders to about 7" total and continued the curve from the waist to meet the extended shoulder. I also cut the front neckline about 1" or more lower than the Sadie--for a fuller gather, cut a deeper neckline or keep the Sadie neckline for less gathering (adjust to preference).

Materials

Stretchy cotton knit (about a yard or less; it's just a front and back), about 26" of 1/8" elastic (adjust to preference)

    taking on the shari dress...

This looks so cool! and since you gathered the neckline, you created fluttery sleeves at the same time! Thanks for the how-to, I've only known how to do this with a readymade pattern before, but now I can make my own :)
