I’m a gymnast, and being very tall, I find it very hard to find good fitting leotards. They tend to be to wide and not long enough, since after a certain size they just get wider and not longer. I’m thinking of taking a shot at making one myself. Does anyone know of a good place online to get the material? There aren’t many fabric stores where I live and you can’t buy things like that. I would prefer it to be stretch velvet, but lycra is good too.
Also, I live in France, so it would be better if the store is based in Europe.

www.cheapfabrics.co.uk I’m sure has some and I’ve used their site a lot.
www.trurofabrics.com has some beautiful ones and I’ve heard that this site is good http://www.tissufabrics.co.uk/fabric-store/cotton-fabrics/cotton-jersey-rib-fabrics.html

Check out “sewingfan1” links. Just want to add that dancewear fabric has stretch velvet , a knit velvet with four-way stretch that is typically 90% polyester and 10% spandex/elastane/lycra please note that all 3 mean the same amount of stretch, . Stretch velvet may be machine washed.
Your probably too far from Tissus Reine and Marché St. Pierre areas.

Sadly, the Long Tall Sally clothing website does not seem to carry leotards in its readymade clothing catalogue. There’s just one active swimsuit in the leisurewear category; most pieces are separates more suited for yoga or running.
In France, are there any places known for skating/skating costumes? There has to be a store that sells the fabric for skating, which will have the spandex fibre content. Whether is it Lycra brand or not remains to be seen. If it is possible to find people connected with French local skating clubs/ regional associations or even the 1992 Albertville Games, someone has to know of online stores that have the fabric you need.

The German store has a few stretch velour fabrics. I have not found out where the velvets are located.
