I want to switch out the knit binding on an Ottobre Women t-shirt pattern and use fold-over elastic (FOE) to mimic a RTW tee I owe. How do I know exactly how long to cut the piece? Surely it can’t be the same as the neckband piece in the pattern, can it?

Do you need the neckline to gather? If you want it to lie flat, yes, cut the fold-over the same length as the neck band.

Thank you. One pattern has gathers the rest do not but all include a neckband piece.
