I really like this Sherri Hill dress http://www.missesdressy.com/flared-skirt-beaded-gown-sherri-hill-p-30021.html?currency=GBP and it would be my ideal prom dress. Unfortunately its £413! So i’ve set about trying to make a similar one myself but i don’t know where to start! Could anyone help me with where i may find a suitable sewing pattern and what sort of method is used to create the pattern on top (is it lace that the sequins are sewn on to?) Any help would be greatly appreciated! many thanks xxxx

Why don’t you try lining it? You could use a contrasting color to make the burn out pop.

Hi there! The dress you mention is heavily boned and possibly the sequins are hand sewn so robably hence the price. have a look at Burda 8200, make it in georgette fabric with a lace fabric overlay, and cut the front bottom hem to the height you want. Pictures please!

How experienced a dressmaker are you? That one will require some serious high-level skills to accomplish. What they are asking for the gown is a seriously advantageous price. The only way to sell it at that price is to get it made up somewhere like China for almost slave labour wages.
