How to alter neckline for draped dress?

I saw Burda’s draped dress pattern for plus size and fell in love with it but I’ve been contemplating purchasing the pattern because I find the neckline a bit too deep for my taste and short frame. How do I go about it and where should I begin? I am a total beginner and need help desperately. I really like this dress!
