I’m trying to understand the skirt pattern from 10/2009, pattern 123. I am completely confused by the zip opening explanation (pretty much ALL of it!). Has anyone else tried this pattern, and can anyone help me work out how it works? And where does the left underlap piece come in?

Thank you very much for reading!

In the end I bought myself a book about techniques (with pictures and photos), and just did it using that. The instructions make it sound harder than it is! My book is called “The Dressmaker’s Technique Bible: A Complete Guide to Fashion Sewing Techniques (Spiral-bound)” and I have found it to be so useful, especially as I am a beginner.

Good luck! Let me know if you would like me to try to explain…

Oooh, I’ll have to keep a look out for that. I ended up following these instructions.
