I bought this linen (a super cheap, mystery fabric) that feels medium weight under the impression that medium weight is suit weight, and I wanted to make a blazer with it. Everything that is made for linen is not really my style… I prefer fitted sheaths and blazers and all I see are boho swimsuit coverups.
I love this linen suit:

Looking at rshelly13 other projects, lead me to this linen suit:

What am I getting wrong? What is suit or blazer appropriate linen? I have tons of it, please give some advice!

As long as it has enough weight, body, and the right drape to make a suit jacket I don’t see why not.

Good tip from missfshn. Found this linen tip list for a young friend: http://www.fabrics-store.com/blog/2008/03/04/sewing-with-linen-everything-you-need-to-know-to-make-a-linen-garment/

Thought these would be useful in your linen adventure.

I have to say that I haven’t been sewing for very long. I just find fabric that I like and use it. I have been drawn towards linen because it is better looking than cotton but more casual than a suiting fabric. I have created a suit with wool before and this makes me think that you could use any type of linen for a suit. The thickness may not matter. I have to say that I am still new to this and may be missing something. Maybe that may be a good thing though because I just do it. Just try it out and see what happens.
