What is the best stitch to use for hand sewing a seam on stretch fabric? I’m not sure I know any hand stitches that stretch.

Try a half cross stitch. Looks like this: |\|\|\|\|\|\|\|\ The slanted stitches are on the top of the work, the straight on the reverse. Don’t pull the thread tight. make the stitches about 1/16" wide and about the same long… Do about 12" and give it a really hard test stretch to make sure the threads don’t pop.

Try a close together herringbone stitch — like above but with a stitch across the top. Sorry can’t draw it to put on the reply ! WWWWWWW Like this but with a straight stitch top and bottom of each V.
