Has any of you experience sewers ever attempted to make your own dress labels to attach to all your sewn items? I use to order pre-fab labels from Newark Dressmaker Supply (in US) but since I ran out, I was hoping to create a home-made yet unique label. Any ideas to share?

I have been checking my blog – hoping to get some favorable replies but =(…… I know many of you out there sew a lot – much more than I do. I do a great number of different sewing items – from drapery to dresses to bags, crafts. If you can sew it, I’ve done it! lol. Ever since I started putting dress labels (made by…..my name) everyone who received these items from me are very impressed and have treasured my handmade gifts. If you have NOT thought about putting a personalized label on your handmade treasures, you should think about it now. It adds a personal touch to the items made – like putting your signature on it. Thats what I think….

Hi there,
I can’t see the URL to your blog site, so I’ll reply here :)
I did a post on my own blog in March about labels – at the bottom of it there’s some links to making your own DIY labels. I’ve never any of my own, but other people seem to have success! Good luck :)

I use them, but didn’t make my own though. Just ordered them. Check them out here: http://sartorialdiy.com/post/4254830848/custom-woven-labels-from-maxfitlabel

i use woven ones i bought at this place : http://www.labelyourself.com/ and i am very very happy with the quality and the price. i do think it is a great thing, to label your own creations and i do get really great reactions on this little extra when passing on things i have made myself!

i embroider my own on cotton fabric that matches whatever fabric i was using for my item.
u can also print ur label onto fabric, use an inkjet printer, make the design u want, tape the piece of fabric onto the standard size paper, print it out. then voila! do a search on youtube about making ur own label, there are many tutorials! good luck!
