I just realized that the second anniversary came and went without comment – on January 28th, the fabrics international wiki was two years old. The growth in viewership over its second year was phenomenal – the site now attracts more than 3000 visits per month, with about 80% coming from search engines and the rest from referals (of which many arrive via BurdaStyle). The overall content of the wiki was extended dramatically over the course of its second year, and over the past few months, several other “wikisters” have been active on the site. As a result, there is now a decent multilingual glossary of terms (in English, French, and German) and a large chunk of the main material is now trilingual (English, French and Spanish). The wiki as a whole includes more than 1000 articles on fabrics, garments and fabric prints, as well as specialized pages for online sources of fabric, online forums, online sewing and fashion blogs, free patterns, and so on. All in all, a solid contribution to the DIY sewing community!
