Today, I turned to my favorite site on the web, wkdesigner (“it ain’t rocket science”) only to read that he has closed the site. He posted drafting instructions for everything from bags to formal wear and then some. This site was the reason I actually parted with cash for a .pdf package. I converted each post. When asked about the site’s future, he replied that he will leave it there “as long as Wordpress lets me” If you haven’t checked it out, please do so. I hope he finds lots of interesting projects to keep that brain busy. Goodbye Don, I will miss you. Cordially, Nehmah

I only recently discovered this site thanks to your post about his sunburst cape, it will be a loss, I love the way he does things.

Oh WOW! Thanks for the info nehmah! I loved this site as well and how creative he approached his projects. I can’t imagine why he would close his site, I guess everyone has to change. I wish him luck in his next endeavor!

Keep your fingers (virtually) crossed. Many of the viewers there have suggested that he consider writing a book on drafting. Now, that would be great. A modern-day text for an old skill. I can but hope. Cordially, Nehmah

For those of you who were new to Weekend Designer, the blog has archives of the last 2 yrs or so. Check them out. A lot of it is still great. Some of my faves include a double breasted vest and a peasant style blouse (from Nov 2008) or how about that Carpetbagger (Jul 2009)! There are a lot of great ideas in the archives. I will miss this site greatly.

Yes, I saw that too and even though I haven’t made anything from the site (not feeling quite confident enough yet), It’s definitely a loss. ’d buy his book :)

I Loved Loved Loved! this site and was sad to hear there would be no more new posts. This site more than anything else has influenced me to draft my own pattern ideas. It’s extremely well written and a must read for all of us sewers – novice and experienced – in my opinion. Will have to borrow Nehmah’s idea about saving the postings in a pdf format or similar. I’d definitely buy a book written by him also.
