Silk Underwear with Flowers: Camisole & Shorts – Burda Handicrafts Special: Silk Painting – 4/1992

I found this 90s silk painting template and sewing pattern book at a thrift store, and I thought I’d like to make the little lingerie set, to even be used as summer pyjamas. I used a fabric remnant from the sewing store, which is quite fluid and silky yet matte, and which creases extremely easily. However it also irons well and receives dye very easily. I tie dyed the material first ending up with a graduated speckled stripey pattern. Then out of the dyed up fabric I stitched up the camisole and the shorts, including making bias strips for the thin piping look around the neck and arm holes. I had a little difficulty sewing the curved hems, but I did clip them. Both the top and shorts would actually be perfect for the beach, as separates, as they are cooling to wear. Pics taken at my auntie’s place again lol. Location: Parnell
