Shorts – Burdastyle 07/2011 #109

I had the shorts pattern on me so I thought why not make another swimwear cover up lol, although these would be fine as lingerie or over a leotard too. Instead of using stretch jersey I naughtily used woven lace remnants, as I have a collection of many small squares of lace in my vintage 70s stash that I wanted to use up. I chose the largest size pattern. I couldn’t sew nicely rounded seams, with the lace being non-stretchy, but adding blue ribbon lace trim along the edges and curves makes them look finished. I didn’t put pockets in as per the pattern, and I also didn’t have enough of this particular lace to make the waist band. I just folded the top over and elasticized it, while also adding fine netting as interfacing, which is why its a bit bulky if you’re pedantic like me lol. But they’re just for swimming in so who cares. These are great to wear if you’re shy about your skimpy bikini bottoms lol. Location: Doini Island
