Lace Floral Top – Burdastyle 05/2013 #130

I think this was the first sewing pattern I ever traced, two years ago, and I finally got round to making it! I didn’t have any appropriate looking floral stretch jersey for the under-layer, but as the neck opening is large, it was fine to use the woven vintage gold satin lining I already had. The lining feels cold against the skin, but that’s great for summer. Overall I had enough of the vintage mint green lace in my stash, except I had to add an extra length all around the hem, piecing it to the satin under-layer at intervals to disguise the join. I had no scalloped-edged hem available on the lace, so I cut the scallops out myself using a template from a sewing/craft book (it was for a scalloped apron hem), finished with small zig zag edging.
