wrong choice of fabric :-((

Great Yarmouth, ...

this is one of many patterns that I wanted to try from the march issue, dress no. 105 and on Thursday when I saw this cotton jersey in my local store, I immediately thought of this pattern. I love the colour but now that it is finished, I think this kind of jersey is the wrong fabric. for one it crinkles very much, I only just ironed it this morning before going out and 2 hours later I look as if I slept in it (not a good look, and no, I didn’t sleep in it!) and also, I used the same material for the lining which also was a mistake, because the top part clings to the lining part underneath and it doesn’t look good. The pattern is great and I definitely want to try this dress again in another (non crinkly) fabric.

I think silky Jersey will work a treat chula. Its a lovely dress and I do love this colour. I can’t wait to see the next one as the backs interesting. I’ve still not finished my jumpsuit because of my fabric choice x

I agree, silk jersey would be much better. Already started on the second attempt :-)) I love the back on this. so what jumpsuit are you making? Isn’t it horrible when you pick the wrong fabric? x

so annoying when that happens. I know it sounds a bit mean, but it sort of pleases me to read that even very experienced and talented sewists like yourself do mess up sometimes and not just me :-)) I am sure though you’ll get there in the end !

The jumpsuit was the one you made with the cut out on the sleeves. I got the pattern fabric all mixed up as well so the pattern on the legs is going a different way from the bodice Lol. Plus the fabrics to thick and the back sits bulky. It just didn’t look right x

yes, the back is really great on this. I have found some silky like jersey in my stash, unfortunately not enough to do the whole dress in it, but I’ve teamed it with some colour matching crinkle velvet and I think this one has come out better. Hoping to get some pictures soon, be interesting you see your opinion :-))

I love this pattern too. Too bad that your fabric don’t behave well! You should make another version as the style suits you very much!
