Woodstock Fabulous- A Coffee Dress Variation

Added Aug 14, 2009

by zanaa

Skellefteå, Sweden

This is a dress I made to wear at the local Woodstock. It is custom that everybody is showing off with their personal hair and clothing style.

I made a sketch of this dress last winter and when I saw the Coffee dress pattern I decided that it was perfect as a basic pattern for this dress. So I added the waistband, sleeves, adjust the neckline, added the white for the details and buttons. I did not make the buttons completely straight, I think it adds more character. Since I had the waistband higher up than on the sketch I made no pockets.

I am thinking about changing the waistband into a white one, as on my sketch but I have not yet decided.

Material Notes

Black fabric – 95% cotton, 5% lycra, white fabric – a heavy cotton one, buttoms, zipper and thread.

Garment Type
Goth/Gothic Lolita, Other, Punk

I used a pattern for the sleeves. I think it was a free pattern from burdastyle (a shirt with short sleeves).
It worked really well and was easy :)

I love the neckline! A wonderful adaption of the classic Coffee Date Dress.

Really nice! I’m making the Coffee Date dress right now actually … as in, I just took a break before adding the facing. :) I think that this is a neat variation. I would personally add the white waistband … but it looks great without it … maybe a white belt would work so that you could decide each time you wear it.

Classic! I love black and white, it can go anywhere. I like your version of the Coffee Dress it is dramatic.
