Wild Autumn Garden

Never in my life I made so many things of knits as I sew them last half a year. I looked through my wardrobe and saw that I only had three self-made jersey items before, wow… I must thank my sweet friends here for changing my attitude to work with such a material: thank you, girls!:-))

So, this fabric is the very one that steals your sewing soul and doesn’t let you go until you bring it home and it makes you only busy with choosing the right pattern and sewing something as soon as possible:-) It is the story.
As the fabric’s pattern is very bright and really crazy with perfect autumn colours, the choice of the pattern wasn’t very hard. And making the top took me just several hours. What I changed:
1. The length – I shortened the top for 6 cm (and think it could be more) to wear it both with pants and skirts.
2. I like top’s long sleeves but they are not narrow enough to keep them above your palm so either gather them along the sleeves seams with elastic or make them shorter or decrease the width to the bottom.

But anyway this top is one of my favourite things this season, I surely recommend it!

The skirt is not new – it is from Burda9/2004, #104. My favourite silhouette – fitting around hips and widening to the bottom. What is more womanish and playful ?;-)

Material Notes

Jersey from blend of cotton and viscose for the top.
Blend of wool and p/e for the skirt.

Your outfits have the perfect colors and style for the season! I love the top, I like your pattern choise and the print of the fabric. You are doing very well with the knits:))) I also love the skirt, it has a so sweet color and it’s a very fav pattern, I have sewn it twice for me, twice for a friend and also traced it for my mother to make. Five times, five gorgeous skirts! Finally I love your photos, you have a great posing attitude!! And a great garden as well!

Thank you, liliv! You are very kind to me as always:) Your and Hellen’s work with knits is my main encouragement. I see so many nice jerseys in the shops and some prints just appeal to me but before I really avoided to work a lot with them. Every of your knits project makes me brave:-)
Autumn colours are really inspiring with their brightness and warmth. Although they are not exactly for my type of appearance but who cares if I enjoy them and never get tired of wearing them?:-)
The skirt is great: a nice balance off the length and width of the godet. By the way, I have the whole suit: both the skirt, the jacket and, besides them, a wrap of the same fabric:-)
