Wedding Chair Covers

Added Sep 9, 2013

Sacramento, Cali...

I made two chair covers for a wedding.
It was a lot of work because the ruffler attachment didn’t want to work on this slippery fabric.
I tried to use a Simplicity chair cover pattern, but the chair was not the same size.
The wedding hall would not let me borrow the chair to make a pattern, and i forgot to bring pattern paper to make a mock up.
In the end, it didn’t fit 100%, but turned out okay.
The material is see through, so it is backed with white muslin on the seat and the top, and the skirt is double.
The skirt ruffling process was tedious.

Yeah, the hem was too long because i made a measuring mistake. Since they wouldn’t let me borrow the chair, I took the measurements but didn’t label them. When I was sewing at home, I could not figure out which was which. I wanted to take it up but was running late and had to go with that length.
Thank you for your kind comment

Thank you Mary. I did take measurements but was off. Next time, if there ever will be, I will take pattern paper with me and do it right. Also, I originally planned to sew an outfit for my daughter and alter a thrift store find, but ran out of time completely.
