vogue culottes (jumpsuit)

Added Apr 14, 2015

Great Yarmouth, ...

another pattern I got in the half price sale. although I am not a big fan of culottes I thought I try this. The pattern is described as very easy but I did everything wrong from beginning to finish. One might think I’d never sewn anything in all my life. First I put the pants wrong sides together and then after unstiching them and putting it right, I forgot about the pockets and so on and so on. I was so relieved when this project was finally finished! Despite all my mistakes, I love the outcome and I am thinking about another version. only downside, I hope I will never be desperate to use the toilet, takes ages to get down and up

Hey Chula I have just bought this pattern (half price of course) and I was checking out others sewers versions of it, and guess what I found yours! I love it, you look fantastic in it, I’m still debating whether to do mine sleeveless or not after seeing yours I’m so undecided, maybe ill make 2. Thanks for the inspiration.

sorry I am so late in replying, been on holiday enjoying a bit of sun :-)) this was such a fun project and I really like the pattern, so much so, I even did the dress version. If I did this again, I’d probably do it sleeveless and put a side zip in (that would make it easier to go to the toilet, hihihi) very curious to see your finished project!!

I also bought this pattern on sale and wasn’t in a hurry to make it until now. Looks great and styled really well with the belt. Now that you have made it, what other fabrics would you recommend? I see you made this one in a linen.

thank you for the lovely comment. you shoulld start on yours, it is really very easy to do. like you said, I used a linen, which worked very well, but does of course wrinkle a lot. so if I made another one, I’d probably used a non-wrinke linen, cotton or maybe even jersey. looking forward to seeing your version!

Great jumpsuit!! My mom made me one in my teens that had the back zipper; she moved it to the front for me. I can’t even imagine trying to undo that back zipper !

thank you Mary ! I am sorry to hear that your mum is ill, hope she will be better soon! As for the jumpsuit, I am sure once you’ve made yours, you will be as pleasantly surprised as me. It is so comfortable to wear, plus I think it doesn’t look bad at all. In fact,I like it that much that I want to make another one in a lighter colour. what material are you planning to use? mine is linen which drapes wonderfully but needs a lot of ironing:-((
Like I said before, can’t wait to see all your new projects!!!!! x

glad to hear your mum is doing better. I am sure your dress for Kelsey will look just as good as Ellen’s and it she will be stunning in it! Am tempted to try that pattern also, don’t know where to start, there are so many patterns I want to try. Like you, I have made a few pieces (probably not as many as you) for some upcoming trips and don’t want .to post them unless I am wearing them, lol. Made a dress for one of my daughters to wear for her cousin’s wedding in may and made a beginners mistake.instead of measuring, I took her word regarding her size and yes, of course it was way too tight, so I have spend a lot of time putting that right. took me so long, that now I have to get my act together to make my own dress for this wedding. Got some lovely material that I bought especially for that purpose, but I just can’t decide what to do with it!
so excited to see all your projects!!

Hi chula, I love my stretch fabrics and I bought the most gorgeous Ponteroma for this but I have fabulous Jersey I am going to test this out on? I bought a metre each of it in grey and cream and It’s like wow! when I got it. It has molten strips on it and looks Fab.I ordered 2 metres more of each lol so I think ill use one of them? In my head this will look great? Lol, my carmin dress looked good in my head as well lol, actually It’s nice! I’m making an obi belt in the same fabric to wear with it. I have loads to post. Dresses tops cullottes shorts a faux leather trench coat etc so once I get out I will posy lol, most is for my hols, going with Kelsey and I’ve made her a few pieces as a surprise including the designer dress with the cutout back from the last issue. Ellen made a beautiful one so I hope mines as nice? It’s different so here’s hoping. I love your work chula, you make what I would wear and you make and wear it well x

thank you Mokara! I felt so silly, should have just put it away for a few days, but I had to finish it there and then. Trust me, I won’t be drinking much, when wearing this, hahaha.
