Violet Tie Dress

Added Jun 14, 2014

I made this dress out of silk dupioni for a wedding as the invitation asked for “black tie”.
I used Burdastyle 08/2010 for the bodice but used the skirt part from another pattern instead of the original tulip skirt one. The bodice is underlined with silk organza and the skirt with petticoat tulle. I also added some boning to the side seams and vertical back seams.

Oh, I really love this dress! I always wanted to try this pattern but there was never the right occasion to wear it. Now my friend is soon to be married and I’ll finally have the excuse to make something super fancy, this pattern will definitely be in consideration!
