I took apart a shirred top/ super short dress and made it into an elastic waist skirt. It had skin coloured straps and the shirring over horizontal strips just didn’t quite cut it. In addition, the lining was only half way down the top! to save it from the trash bin, I decided to upcycled it!

The skirt is essentially two rectangles. Sew the two sides of rectangle together, as well as the two ends of the elastic together. I divided the edge I would attach the elastic to into 8 parts. I made markings on the fabric with a fabric marker. I did the same with the elastic. Then I match the 8 markings on the fabric to the 8 markings on the elastic and pin the 8 points together. When you sew you need to stretch the elastic. The purpose of the 8 markings is to ensure even distribution. Hope this helps.
