Description

I kept up with tradition and made a Ukrainian inspired Easter dress using Burdastyle patterns.

I had multiple dress ideas for this year and ended up (at the very last moment) with this dress design. Read more about the process and embroidery (from Ukraine) on my blog here: http://www.marusyamarusya.com/ukrainian-embroidered-linen-ivory-lace-easter-dress-2016/

I used Burdastyle 02/2015 #129 Dress Pattern. I love the dress and hope to make more!

I added a back zipper and back embroidered belt to the original Burdastyle pattern.

Happy Easter! Have a wonderful spring season!

Beautiful! Did you embroider by hand or machine? I’m quite a seasoned embroiderer myself and I know how time consuming hand work is :)

It’s hand embroiderey. It was my babcha’s embroidery until it was given to my mom after she passed away. My aunts say it was either sent to my babcha from Ukraine (many years ago) or it was embroidered by my babcha.
My guess is that it’s embroidery sent to my babcha from relatives in Ukraine. It’s men’s shirt embroidery and I don’t think my babcha would’ve embroidered these colors for a man.

Some history gives it an extra touch and it does look really cool as part of your dress. Enjoy :)
