Ugly-Colored Stripey Dress

Added Mar 11, 2014

This time a made the Hourglass Dress with a chevron effect. I wanted to test the matching of the stripes first so I thought I do a test garment. This is it. And there’s not going to be any other garment ‘cause this was a real hassle to sew, or rather – to fit. I’ll admit I do have the final version of the altered pattern saved, but I do not see that one entering anywhere near my fabrics anytime soon.

Please visit my blog for more pictures and text. :)

Thanks, i do however wish I’d had the guts to cut into the good fabric – I would have loved it I’m pretty sure.

I’ve just finished watching a series called Justified and I thought it was good but the one that you should really watch if you enjoyed House of Cards is a show called Suits.

Thanks Mokara! I certainly do! And right now I have a thing for pattern matching. Probably because I found such a great way (everyone probably knows this but it was a revelation for me when I found it) of working with matching the stripes.

Thank you Mary! Maybe it’s just the fact that I have a way nicer fabric that I really wanted to use but can’t bring myself around to sewing since this was so difficult and time-consuming.

Ps curtains are from good old ikea! :)

Oh, it’s far from ugly, I love the colours, the contrast! And the whole style too :) Good job with the stripes going in different directions.

Thanks Jelena! It’s just not my kind of colors, but I like how the chevron matching came out. :)

Wow, nice outfit. I like how the lines correspond, that can be a challenge for me, it really stresses me out. You did a good job.

Thanks! They took a whole bunch of House of Cards episodes to complete and a ton of hand-sewing but I found it really relaxing. Surprisingly so.
