Tri Color Coat - Burda Pattern

You guys wouldn’t believe how hard it is to find coat fabric out there! The fabric I used was a wool melton blend from Fabric.com. I first toured around Joann’s to see if they had anything (of course they didn’t) but Fabric.com had some nice colors. This wool blend is nice and thick! I was really impressed with the quality of it. The brown lining fabric is from my standby, Textile Discount Outlet. I think 3 yards of it was only $8.

I created my own inside lining for the pattern since this pattern has no lining with it. The only adjustments I made on the shell was to the length of the sleeves overall. This one is sewn in a size 38 and I’m 5’1", 33" bust, 25" waist, 34" hips.

Although it says to use hooks and eyes on the inside like I did, I’m going to change them to toggles for better closure on it.

I’ll be wearing it all fall!

Good eye for the colors and texture – this is gorgeous! In fact, I don’t think I would have even looked at the pattern without seeing yours.

Aww, thanks! I had my eye on making patterns for a Pierre Cardin knock-off 60s coat that looked very much so like this.

The only issue I have with this pattern is the hooks and eyes – they’re not stable enough for some reason even though they are coat ones. I think I’ll be adding 3 frog closures to the front to really keep it closed!

Fun-looking color combination. And the cut is nice, as well.
