Too Cold?

I need it to be warm and sunny now please!

Made this dress from my own pattern. Tried to make it as professional as possible, so hid all the seams with the lining – this has resulted in a lovely dress, but a LOT of frustration trying to figure out what order to sew things together and how to put a sleeve in and then attach the lining around the armholes. In the end i added the sleeve to the dress fabric, sewed the lining to the neckline and then tucked the collar and the sleeve over the shoulder and wrapped the lining around it – kind of based on the magic reversible seams. Then (as I had luckily done a back zip) I just pulled the back section through.

First time putting in an invisible zip, which I love, apart from the bottom which is a bit amateur.

I love this dress, but a) it is FREEZING here! and b) it’s a bit too cutesy – any tips or ideas on how to make it look less so?

This is beautiful! Well done with the drafting, this looks professional! I don’t think it looks too cutesy! but you can always slap on a cardigan and a scarf :)

So cute. Hope you’ll get your summer soon. Boots og maybe ballarinas in a bright colour, cardigan and perhaps a wider belt in a colour. You could go a bit rockabilly on it if you like that style. But – then again – sometimes cute is the greatest.

Thank you so much for all your comments. It’s so exciting when people like your projects – and makes me more confident to wear it (cutesyness and all!)

Super great sewing work :) You’ve done well and I love how it all came together! I agree with the others, layer it to hide some of the cutesy-ness!! But I hope you will wear it as is too, its looking great! PS its FREEZING cold here too and i wish for summer although winter has just started :(

Very nice! I love the collar. Maybe boots and a cardigan if it’s cold That will make it look less “cutesy,” Although I think it’s great as it is!
