Description

Using Sense & Sensibilitie’s 1780’s Girls’ Portrait Dress Pattern, http://sensibility.com/patterns/girls-1780s-portrait-dress-pattern/ I have created another dress using the straight front style, vs. the gathered bodice style in the previous dress.

Under her dress she has on a linen bodiced petticoat, made from the same pattern.

I used cotton toile for the main part of the dress, lined the bodice with linen, embroidered cotton for the lace cuffs and used silk for the hat and the sash.

Material Notes

Cotton toile fabric
Blue, plain weave silk
Cotton embroidered lace

Have you ever seen Marie Antoinette and her daughter in Sofia Coppola’s movie? This girl looks exacly like that princess in Versaille’s park :))) Really great work!

No I have not, but perhaps I should!

Thank you for your kind compliment. It’s always fun to sew for such a willing participant. :)

Thank you. I am fortunate to have a daughter who enjoys wearing hats. It makes me very happy. :)

That’s so great, and it really suits her too. I’ve loved wearing hats since I was little myself and I still do. One day I must learn millinery…
