The suit!

This suit was made for my nephew’s wedding. Two and a half days of Faster-Than-Light sewing! The skirt is a Butterick pattern from 1978, and the jacket another Butterick one, this time from about five years ago.

I did most of the construction for this one. Su made the rouleau loops and leveled the hem, as well as helping to cut out.

Material Notes

The fabric was from Huddersfield Cloth, and is a wool, linen and cotton mix. It has a polyester taffeta lining.

Garment Type
Cotton, Linen, Polyester, Wool

I love that the structure of this suit has a very retro feel, but the color makes it current, as well. Very nice!

Thanks. It’s long been a good colour for me… I first made the skirt pattern up in 1978, and it’s been made a couple of times since. This is the jacket pattern’s second outing. While I usually draft my own patterns these days, these work, they suit me, they fit, and having done them both before, they go together fairly fast – which was Very Important this time round!
