Thanks. I’m finishing up my PhD and making bridesmaid dresses right now, so I had been taking a break. This summer, though, I’ll be up and running again, potentially with another sew-along.

To mskelly: I’ll be posting only the very basic pattern alterations—i.e. cut the pieces, pin it on yourself or a dressform, take it in/out at the middle first to make the darts fall in the right place, take it in/out at the sides to adjust from there. I won’t go in much more detail than that, as I expect most new sewers won’t be able to understand much more than that till they make something.

I will demonstrate adding seam allowance (just adding 5/8 inch extra on all the seams on the pattern pieces themselves before cutting).

To post comments on my blog, you need to have a google, live journal, wordpress, typepad, AIM, or OpenID account. If you have one of these, you should be able to comment using that account.

    I’m glad you’re joining in!

Hey, the 19th is a Sunday for me here in London, what time (in your time) will you be posting the blogs so I can try and work out how many hours behind I am from Massachusetts and log on when the blogs are up. dunno why I’m so enthusiastic about this sew along !

Hi mskelly, I actually meant to start the sew along Monday, but since I posted the 19th, I’ll stick to it and start Sunday. I’m going to set up the posts the night before so they go up at 9am EST (Daylight savings). The first few days will be all adjusting the pattern, learning to cut a pattern, etc., so you probably don’t have to be too on top of things.

I’ve just tried to post this on your blog but it won’t work!…I have 2 questions firstly, I’ve read your blog and I’m a bit ahead I’ve regraded my bodice up slightly as the waist and bust of the 42 needs a few more inches on, the skirt of the 42 is cool I’ve also added in my seems but I’ve not cut out the pattern pieces yet. However! Will you be blogging and demonstrating adding in the seem allowance and any grading etc ?? If not it’s cool I’m about 99% sure that I’ve got it correct but just wanted to watch a demo to be 100%. Secondly I ‘m a bit confused about the amount of fabric needed if you DON’T add lining, should this be 2 or 3 yrds?? Thanks K
