The Secretary Blouse

Added Jan 13, 2015

Boechout, Belgium

This pattern features a fitted pull over blouse with plunging neckline and a classic collar. This garment has half length sleeves with cuffs. Inspired on Rockabilly and Pin up styles.

I’m very proud since this was my first digitally drawn and graded pattern. For more info on how I made this pattern and if you are interested in trying it out, check out my blog

Material Notes

Stretch fabrics only: every 10 cm should stretch as much as 4 cm for this project to work.
Use stiff fusible interfacing for the collar pieces. Stretch interfacing is recommended for the cuffs.

Thank you for the pattern, I would love to try and design some of my own patterns digitally but i have no idea where to start. I would love some tip’s do you share tips on your blog? I will pop over and visit you but was just wondering if you could help me in any way. Did you teach yourself how to do this x. Sorry for all the questions lol.

If you want to start designing patterns I would reccomend starting off small with alterations of patterns you already own or use (like adding collars to t shirts or adding more flare to a skirt). There are lots of awesome tekstbooks to guide you through this proces of flat pattern adjusting. The principle is always the same though: you start from pattern blocks based on your own or standard measurements and you slash and spread where you want extra space or extra seams.
If you are only looking for info on how to digitise and design on the pc pattern workshop by lauren dahl is really good, but it requires pattern design knowledge up front. I taught myself to sew, design and digitise and it has been a slow proces, for instance I made this pattern before I took Laurens course and it would take me far less time to make a similar pattern now.
