The making of my Wedding Dress

Added Sep 29, 2014

This Wedding Dress was one of the most challenging garments to create. I thoroughly recommend making your own dress, but it was certainly nerve wracking and a whole bunch of hard work. I sourced fabrics, researched designs, made muslin versions, made alterations, cut fabrics (with a special technique), slowly sewed all of the sections together and hand sewed the finishing touches. I am super happy with the result and really want to encourage others to give it a go.
I have shared the entire process as well as some tips on my blog Fickle Sense

Material Notes

silk chiffon, silk satin, antique brooches

Garment Type
Classic, Bridal, Evening Wear, Romantic, Vintage
Chiffon, Silk

Stunning! Your dress is absolutely beautiful! I have also made my own dress three years ago and at the end I was really happy that I decided to sew my own gown. Congratulations for getting married and mastering your own dress!

You made your own too? I really felt so proud and happy with the end result. It was certainly a challenge, but a wonderful challenge. I just looked at your dress. Wonderful silhouette. Just lovely!
