By Hand London Elisalex dress made in printed cotton poplin.
This will no doubt be the first of many Elisalex dresses, as By Hand London patterns appear to be highly addictive and impossible to make just once!
I love the silhouette of this dress.

I like everything – the pattern, the fabric, the silhoette and, most of all, you in it! The proportios are chosen propely to get the balance between the length and width of the skirt. Very feminine sexy image.

Thank you for your kind compliment – I was not sure about this skirt length and thought I might make it shorter, but I really like the exaggerated proportions.

This is beautiful! The fabric you used looks perfect with this pattern! I wish I could wear this pattern, but I think I’d die in the heat here :-(

Thank you. Although the bodice is close fitting there is so much room in the skirt for air to circulate that you might manage to get away with it in extreme temperatures… but that is easy for me to say from the North of England! Whenever I go somewhere hot I guess I tend to stick to the looser fitting garments!

Thanks, Mary – I got this fabric at an unbelievable bargain price and so wish I had bought it by the mile rather than the metre!

I like very much your dress!! It has a great feminine shape and it is super nice on your body! I love the elisalex pattern and all the versions look fabulous!!! I also beleive that tulip skirts can be flattering for pear shaped ladies. Of course I don’t know if you are pear shaped – sure I can’t tell from the photos, there is a bit of volume at the hip area but I don’t know if it is due to your hips or due to the fabric;)

Thanks Liliv – I certainly used to be a pear shape, but I am becoming more apple shaped, as middle age is settling on my stomach! This dress seems to disguise that quite well, too, though.
