The dark blue dot.

Melbourne, Austr...

I’ve been working on this top for ages, chipping away at it progressively over the last few months.
Now I’m on semester break from uni, i managed to finally finish it, and I’m really happy with how it worked out! Hopefully I’ll be able to finish a few other projects too!

I used navy and white polka dot cotton which I found at Savers. The bust part is lined with plain white cotton.
I used vintage ‘Style’ pattern 1220 (1975). The pattern is for a sun dress, so I just extended the length of the bodice and increased the width. I also added pleats to the straps, as I wanted them to taper towards the bodice. There were no other major adjustments to the pattern, just a few tweaks here and there.

Now I just have to wait for some warmer weather so I can give it a test run!

Thanks for stopping by to have a look :-)

Material Notes

Navy blue and white polka dot cotton, plain white cotton for lining.

It’s adorable, both the fabric and the cut. This cut is something I see as a great basic pattern for tops and dresses, so you’ve got a good start there!
