Teal blue batiste shift dress

This was a fun sew, particularly as my first time working with Liberty cotton, lovely fabric! All dress seams were done as french seams and pockets were omitted. The bodice, bodice darts, and skirt were lengthened slightly for personal fit. With the fabric used, it is not well suited for eased seams particularly with set in sleeves, and in retrospect would have liked to have shortened the sleeve cap for the fine weaved fabric which would have improved sewing in the sleeves more smoothly. Also included in this project was a slinky bias slip by VeraVenus: http://wp.me/P1iDbu-46. She has thoughtful retro inspired patterns and I couldn’t wait to include this cotton batiste slip to complete this dress. (VeraVenus’s comments on her pattern instructions are excellent.)

This is a dress with “personality”! I agree that liberty is a great fabric to work with…I love the brown accessories, as well!
