Misses’ Dress (and Unlined Jacket) – Simplicity 7807A /1976

I found this 70’s pattern at a charity shop, but when I got home I didn’t realize it only came in petite sizes lol. Later on I found an adequate amount of super stretchy tan lace fabric cut-off for only $3 at a local fabric fair, and then decided I’d still give this pattern a go. Its comfy, and being transparent it can be used as a beach cover up, or you could wear a slip under it. Being very stretchy lace of course the seams inside are wavy, despite me using stabilizing paper underneath during sewing (with zig zag finishing on a normal sewing machine). No one will notice the bumpy seams from the outside lol. If I try to correct the waves any further it will only get worse, much worse lol, according to my past experience. The straps are just tubes, which I attached a bit lower from the top bodice edge, and I liked how the frilled top edge spills down. The hem also has a frilled edge, and as the entire skirt flares out from top to bottom like a triangle, at the side the hem appears slightly asymmetric/longer, but thats trendy lol. Aside from the difficult fabric, this pattern was quick to sew, when not inserting a zip. Location: Pt Chevalier

Material Notes

very stretchy tan/beige/nude/tea lace with 4-way stretch

I trialed this dress out yesterday on a beach walk; it fits comfortably being stretch fabric, but it hugs every (unwanted) curve as its still a petite pattern, so i have to be on it (e.g. need more exercise lol) XD

You did well sourcing your fabric and pattern and it has turned out really well. I can imagine it was a bit hard to sew without an overlocker, so well done you!!!
