T-Shirt Mini Dress

Added Feb 17, 2011

Austin, Texas, U...

I made this loose fitting mini dress from some awesome brown striped knit fabric that I bought. I wanted a simple jersey mini dress that I could dress up or down. Originally I tried long sleeves but I like the 3/4 length better. I love the big scoop neck. You could wear a lacy cami and have the lace peep out from the top. You could also wear it with or without a belt.

I just bought a new overlocker and I think this pattern is the right one to try my very first jersey project.

I love the simplicity of the accessories! Surprising how they work so well together… I really like the length of the sleeves two! good job! :)

I think that this pattern looks perfect for my wardrobe, but even though I’m an intermediate-ish sewer… I must admit that I’m deathly afraid to sew with knits!!! I just worry that I’ll “stretch out” the knit at the seams so that the cut of the dress ends up being warped! But I’m willing to try it out with this pattern. Any pointers?

Ive already made this twice! Im a real beginner so I mess up a lot and I’m not that neat, and I have some problems getting what to do with the collar, I improvised but I think I did it wrong.

In short, I love this pattern!

thanks for your mini-t pattern. I wear what used to be called dorm shirts, around the house. Being short and having a drooping belly, the regular lengths don’t cover me. This will give me a point from which to star when re-drafting your pattern. Cordially, Nehmah One question, about how tall are you? I am a miserable 5ft, 3 inches (I’ve lost another 1.5 inches!) I was 5ft, 6in ten years ago. Grrr!

I’m 5’ 6" and as you can see the dress as it is hits about mid thigh but you can easily alter the pattern to be longer or shorter. Good luck!
