Sunny Mood Dress

Added May 19, 2014

Portland, Oregon...

I won a fabric bundle from Mood Designer Fabrics on their Facebook page from my Facebook page Love, Stephanie: https://www.facebook.com/LoveStephanieNewman.

The prize included Oscar de la Renta cotton stretch sateen in a white and yellow abstract print, matching yellow lining, Gutermann thread, a matching yellow zipper and a nice Mood tote bag.

I decided to make a little dress from Butterick 6016 pattern view B. This pattern I liked because of the shaped hem and the exposed lining. I cut the the bodice on the fold instead of with the center seam as the pattern is designed to eliminate the center front seam and to be able to have my fabric print continuous.

I really like this simple and easy pattern and would make it again, but I might try making the shape of the hem more pronounced and shaped for a more dramatic effect.

Congratulation Stephanie! Lucky you :) The fabric is gorgeous and so is your dress! I like this style a lot and it’s nice with the lower hem at the back :)

This is gorgeous, i love this fabric and style. Great photos as well. Burda had a photo on of a lemon designer dress with a dipped hem!! You could see the floral lining and it was gorgeous.the high low effect was more pronounced and they added one of their dresses to show how copy it. Its somewhere on here if you want to look. I screen captured it for future reference x

Thanks Mary! I would love to make a dress like that! I love to highlight unexpected features of a garment like a hem or interior feature. I think I may try again and make a really cool dress :)
