sundry summer dress

Providence, Rhod...

i wanted to try making a back button blouse, so i started by using the flynow top but soon realized that i hadn’t made the blouse long enough, so i decided to add a “belt” and circle skirt as a full dress project.

i had to adjust the measurements of the skirt a bit so that i didn’t have the overlap. really, i mostly just guessed at how wide to make the waist cut, going a little small so that if i had to make it wider, i could. but thankfully, i guessed all right.

i made this out of a bed sheet and used the finished part of the sheet for the waistband that connects the bodice to the skirt. i will be using bed sheets and curtains way more often as practice and finished material.

thank you; i’m ecstatic with it. as it was my first button back (and really, my first button down), next time i will add a bit more fabric to underlap the button holes and also use interfacing. but as this one really was a rushed practice (practically a muslin) i couldn’t be more pleased with the end result. i learned so much by doing it.

      thank you, priscilla, too.
