Striped Ruffle Top

Chicago, Illinoi...

I made this top using New Look 6895. There’s something like 7" ease built in, which in my humble (novice) opinion, is completely ridiculous! My biggest fear is sizing issues, so while completely scared out of my mind, I cut 3 sizes smaller than what I normally would have and I’m actually really happy with how it turned out :D

I blogged about it at hippopotamuslee.blogspot.com!

Material Notes

I used a thrifted bedsheet from my local Salvation Army!

Thanks so much ladies! I was pretty nervous about using a bedsheet but I’m really happy with the result :)

Pretty!! I very much like ruffly tops and the fabric is great. Good call on adjusting the sizing; it looks easy breezy without being too big or small (I’d be terrified to cut 3 sizes smaller, so I’d have been the one spending more time taking in the sides than it took to make the shirt in the first place). Also the colors in your photo are very lovely :)

The top looks great. I, too, always fear cutting things the wrong size because the ease is always so much more than you would expect. ive spent far too much time taking in garments because i cut them to my “size” but the ease was too much. its really annoying, not to mention the waste of fabric.

Yeay! The whole look is so cute! Love your cardigan! I really love the fabric coupled with the pattern you chose… 3 sizes smaller? Whoooo! Great instinct because the fit is great!

I love this pattern! And I really love the fabric you used! I used this pattern for my Flouncy Dot Top and my Sangria on Sunday dress. Yes, it does run large which is really annoying, but otherwise I think it’s a really versatile design!
