"Spicy Stripes" Knotted Dress

Added Dec 8, 2015

St. Louis, Misso...

This was so easy to make and a hot little number, too! It is named after a favorite exotic, layered soap recipe which we like to make. My fabric is a Missoni-looking pima cotton/rayon knit, lined in a sheer poly knit for added coziness in winter. I love the versatility and ingenuity of the front ties – I found four ways of closure. what a fantastic dress this is on you. didn’t like the fabric they used for it in the magazine, but I love yours! Surprisingly, the print doesn’t draw all the attention from the pattern, which is great, they work well together. nice colours also.

Thank you. I did stray from the layout instructions with some of the pieces in order to get the stripes going the way they went. But I figured correctly that with a knit that has an even stretch from all directions it didn’t matter too much.

Thank you so much for your compliment! This dress does totally account for a woman’s curves. The best thing about all colors in the Missoni print is the variety of accessories I can match with it. I’m wearing ethnic made shell earrings in the pics.

I like your version of this dress and nice fabric. In the model it looks really low at neck but yours looks better, did you alter it at all?

Thank you very much. No changes, except for not putting in the pockets at hip. I did safety pin the neckline closed underside. It is quite low otherwise and would show off underwear but I don’t think it looks out of place pinned higher. I might sew on some snaps for a more permanent option – maybe.

Thank you for your compliment – I was worried the print would overwhelm the dress.
