Space Dress & Spike Shoulderpiece

Norfolk, Virgini...

I made this [actually quite simple] dress yesterday by copying and modifying the pattern for a strapless bubble dress I got from Target a few months ago.

I increased the height of the peaks at the bust and added poly boning to help them keep their shape..

I had a quarter-yard of this silver fabric lying around and finally had to use it to give this dress what i think is a pretty space-y feel. Also, I am a sucker for an exposed zipper; easy and fabulous.

The shoulder piece was an idea that came out of nowhere and I had to construct it. It is fairly simple and easy, but time consuming. I was wrestling with yards of boning for probably four hours to get this baby together. It was worth it, though, because it was a huge hit at the club! It’s all very comfortable and [thankfully] stood up to many hours of dancing.
