Silver and black set

The fabric was the trigger for this project. I’ve seen it on my regular web-shop and was curious about it for a while. I wanted to make a top based on my most compliment-bringing dress pattern, then decided also to add a little skirt of the same material and have mix & match possibilities :)

The blouse I based exactly on the dress, just eliminated the darts on the back and the zippers as the fabric is stretchy enough. The skirt was inspired by this cute number from Nov16 issue (of course as you see a bit modified) but based on the same dress improvising the wrap effect, again no zippers, just a bit of elastic around the waist.

And in an attempt to join the two pieces together, and make them look a bit more dress like, I added black velvet “piping” or trim around the wrap part and bottom of the skirt as well as the hem and sleeve hems.

I love the look and fit and the pattern is bringing compliments once more :)

Material Notes

Polyester/Lycra knit
Stretch velvet as trim

Tusen takk! Kjøpt på en dansk nettbutikk stofstedet.dk. Jeg sliter litt med å finne interessant stoff i Norge, så blir det danske nettbutikker da :D

This fabric is so stunning, i can see why you were attracted to it, and you have made the perfect outfit, its great that it is a skirt and blouse so you can mix and match, (i so need to take a leaf out of your book and stop making dresses) you have a million possibilities, you look great in it Maria. :-)

Thank you so much Beccki :) You do get possibilities with separate pieces, but it’s so easy to just put on a nice dress, isn’t it? I love dresses!

I agree with Ainta , the first thought was a dress! So you can wear it like this or combine it separate. The fabric looks great and i like the black pipping aswell. Fits you great Maria, it is really flattering. I have to see the skirt pattern , looks interesting.

Thank you Maria :) I’m really happy with it.
For the skirt I used the dress pattern from the waist to the length I wanted, then drew a line where I wanted the wrap effect to be,and a quarter circle at the bottom (I used 6cm radius), then a parallel line to the first one 3 cm from it closer to the center front ending in a quarter circle the other way, et voila! :D But it’s probably just as east to use the nov16 pattern (but it’s really short! :o)

I actually thought this was a dress before reading that it’s’ not :) No wonder you get compliments wearing it, it is flattering and looks great on you.
