Silky Flounce Blouse

Added Jun 13, 2017

by France Langlois

The integrated flounce along the front panel seams give this raglan sleeve blouse a feminine touch. The collar is finished with bands that extend to drape or to tie

This is a petite pattern. Burda measurements had me in the size 21. I decided to compare some of my favourite RTW blouses measurements to this pattern’s- after I calculated the finish garnement size. I opted for 2 sizes smaller and sewn the 19 with no adjustment what so ever. Love the fit
I also like that it’s 4 pieces plus biais. The integrated flounce saves time. And I did a rolled hem (my first time in all my years of sewing ) and the flounce turned out fluffy.
I never like to finish a garnement with hand stitching but could not figure out a different option for this delicate fabric.
I wore this in the office today. It went incognito – nobody asked if it was new or if I had made it myself! I had to brag about it to friends! I will probably sew again in a print.

Material Notes

I used a silk imitation in polyester. Same shineness, draping and challenge to sew for a fraction of the price of the real stuff and an easy wash at the delicate cycle. Bonus no shrinking.
