Description

I have had this silk cotton forever and thought it needed a life, but I could never really find the right pattern. I had kind of wondered why I had bought it. Maybe a blonde moment. The shift pattern is on my to do list for winter so this was really a trial run before I cut into any fabric too expensive. I made a couple of changes, no sleeves, facings replaced the lining, I put in a side zip instead of at the back. I made the little jacket from a Style Arc pattern at the last minute. I’m happy with both now. The dress is a lovely shape and I’m looking forward to doing a winter version of it now!

Material Notes

Silk cotton spandex, 40cm invisible zip, interfacing.
Polyester knit.

This is so pretty!! I love the print of the fabric, so summer-y and pretty. I love that it’s silk too. I can’t believe you made that jacket too, so pretty and it goes super well with the dress too. So cute, excellent job!

Great dress! The cardi coordinates nicely, but just FYI, the dress reads as blue with accents of coral (at least on my screen) and brown (and I can’t tell the 3rd accent – either white or pale blue?).

Thanks for your kind comments, the colours are more turquoise blue, bright orange, brown and white. Crazy combo but I’m glad I’ve finally made it up.

Thankyou Chula, you should try it. It’s fitted but you can easily move in it because of the flick at the hem:)

Thanks Ellen I’m happy with it now. I think the brown background in the material was putting me off making it up.

Thankyou Mary. The background in the dress is brown so needed a brown cardi too, cooling down here now sadly!
