Silk Tank – Burdastyle 04/2015 #103

I got this material within a bundle of off-cuts from the sewing shop; this satiny fabric was in it, just enough to make this top. The graphic print on it seems to suit the retro look, so I was happy it matched this pattern. It was a little difficult to sew a straight line, as its slinky and liquidy material, so I changed to a sharper needle which helped it to sew a bit easier. I like it, I just need to iron it ahhaha. (They’re worn with the blue trousers I made in patternmaking classes a couplea years ago, the stitching inside those is a little bad lolz). It has a bit of a deep v-neckline. Location: Panmure Basin

I have just clipped on a separate project to the end of this tank project lol. Its a baby hat for my friends’ baby boy due Christmas day. It is a good pattern i recommend it as it was fun and relatively quick, although my machine played up as usual lol with stitch tension issues. I used up a small jersey offcut from a craft store sales bin; i like the ears, and when you turn it inside out (its reversible) it can look like a beanie like eminiem lol. i topstitched around the hem because i wanted to disguise some messy stitching. Im unsure if there will be a model for this hat lol, so i am not going to post it as its own project- unless it gets a model lol, i dont think. =]

i did a shoot the other day for this tank; do excuse my sourpuss face; my period is due lol. this top feels like it is nice to wear, except it feels like it rides up and bunches up tightly a bit at the top half. this may have been caused by my not using a more lighter drapey matte fabric, or perhaps ive put a few pounds on lol altering the fit, in the chest or back region. it is a good quick pattern though.

oh dear that fabric does look tricky, but what a great job you did (never mind the ironing, hahaha, I always get told off about that too hihihi) great print and the pattern really shows it off, especially the back, and I love the colours. looks cool with your blue pants :-)))

thanks so much lovely chula. turns out i can’t iron it lol! (edit: in the end i was able to iron it smooth after all!) the folds are set in well hahaha. but that print was defo an eyecatcher, a good score, so no worries if the crinkles are noticable. x

You’ve done a fab job with this, Nadia. The fabric does sure look slippy but what you’ve ended up with sure is sassy!!! :)
