Samarias Roman Blinds

London, United K...

First time making these and although the measuring is a lengthy process (!) the end result is quite satisfying. I was prepared for my first attempt to be rubbish but now that it worked I have orders for other rooms! The bonus with Roman Blinds versus curtains is that they use less than half the fabric! My childrens bedrooms are small, curtains add more bulk visually and these blinds seem to make it more spacious.

The fabric has been hanging around in my ‘to-do’ pile for some time. An off cut from an old fashioned drapery and furnishing fabric shop in Shepherds Bush Market…. £5!

Material Notes

Curtain fabric, lining, velcro, wooden dowelling rods, nylon cord, screw eyes, preferably plastic rings… (I used small washers!), an acorn cord tidy (which I later affixed) and a cleat.

Please, post some instructions with this one! These are great, and I’ve been piddling with curtain ideas for a while. I want to try this!

Thank you for your comment. I do intend to post some instructions… have not contributed any yet …just a bit nervous about getting them completely correct! I cobbled my method from various other techniques. But as soon as I get chance I will do so.

Love the fabric! It goes well with the wall colour! I’m going to transform all of our curtains into Roman blinds when we make a start on renovations!

Thank you. If you need any advice, just shout. Im still very much the novice but I did learn a thing or two on this project! The most important factor for making these is the measuring, make sure the rings are perfectly aligned, the dowels are not too far apart and the fabric is heavy enough to fold up neatly when its raised.
