Reversible bag - Quick and affordable birthday present!

I thought of getting my younger sister a subscription to Vogue for her 21st birthday, but the price didn’t exactly match with my budget… And it seemed a little impersonal. Instead, I was inspired by this totally cute cotton fabric I found at the thrift store, and decided to make her a reversible bag, using Novita’s pattern over at Very Purple Person. I paired the cotton with a thicker poly/wool/? plaid from my stash, also thrifted, and added a key loop to the edge of each side of the bag (because I personally like to hook my keys securely inside at all times). It was so easy, I next made a lined zippered pouch to match, and to act as a gift wrap.

Material Notes

Cotton, wool/poly/? blend, thrifted, retro.

hi there orchardcity, lovely bag! I couldn’t decide which of those lovely fabrics to wear inside or outside!

When I had a closer look at your pictures, it reminded me of the ‘sleeveless Top’ that my first Charlie bag looked like because I had made the same mistake. Is it possible that you missed step 7 in verypurpleperson’s tutorial, where it says: “So please make sure that you sew each strap to the strap beside it, NOT the strap that is in front of it.” I just thought maybe you’d like to know… ;))) Won’t matter much anyway.

HILARIOUS! You’re so right: I completely missed that step! Wow. Thank for letting me know… You’re right, it doesn’t matter much, but it’s good to know for future versions!
