Retro-Styley Swimsuit

British Columbia...

I can never wear store-bought one-piece bathing suits because my torso is way too long and they never fit well. So I made my own!

I used a vintage pattern from my stash: Butterick 3129. The idea for the white trim came from this little number I spied on Pinterest. Oh man, what a great place for sewing inspiration!

I forgot to mention that I added 1" of length in the torso. I probably should’ve added 2" total. Oh well – next time!

Your swimsuit is gorgeous and looks fab on you! I cannot wear store bought swimsuits as well, but for the opposite problem: my torso is too short and the fabric bulks up in wrinkles around my waist. I have thought about making my own retro swimsuit but never had the courage so far.

Oh, you should totally give it a go! The pattern I used was quite easy – you should have no problem, you are quite skilled :)

Great swimsuit! I really like the white contrast! It’d be super cute with a little white cover-up :) I may have to see if I can find that pattern-as I prefer one-peice and it’s hard to find a decent one. Never thought of making one myself. Thanks for the inspiration!
