Retro Dress - Butterick 6239

Toddington, Bedf...

This is one of the first patterns I bought, but it’s the first time I’ve made the dress. It only took me about about 3 hours to make from cutting out the pattern to finishing the hem.

I used a printed linen fabric I had… I’m glad I made it, but I’m not happy with the finish product… maybe is because the print on the fabric is too busy. I’ll just have to try again, but in the meantime, tell me what you think – both why you like it or not.

Material Notes

Linen fabric, zipper, thread

This dress looks wonderful on many people, and it will definitely look great on my wife. I will buy this for her once my essay writing service work has been completed. This is what will make me happy, and my wife happy, too.

Dress looks great, but those shoes are the standout! What a great colour!

I think the print is lovely. I love it with the yellow shoes, too.

Sorry, I’ve just red the other comments, and I’m not the first talking about the waist (and I’ve learn a new word : waistline…)

So maybe event if you don’t like it, you should do it?!

I like the fabric, maybe the waist is too low, put it on your waist, your shape will look better I think.

Good choice with the shoes too!

I love the fabric that you used. I think it can easily be tweaked a little so that you love it! Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about the waistline. I would bring it up and then wear a wide white or yellow belt with it at your waist. This would add a more narrow waistline similar to the pattern (i googled it). Otherwise, I think it looks great! I am very impressed by the three hours!

Thank you. I agree that the waistline is a little bit too low… I hate unpicking, but I think I’m going to have to do it.

Hi there Suzete, I don´t think something is WRONG with the dress. I like both dress and fabric . Only thing I would change to this pattern is the waistline, I would make it higher, but then it would change the whole look of the pattern right? And if it was my dress, I would definitely wear it with yellow shoes, but then peep-toe shoes. Take care! J

Thank you. I agree about the waisline – I think it’s a bit too high. I love my shoes and I’m ashamed to say that I had forgotten I had them (probably because I have too many ;-)).
