Red Puff Blouse

To invent complex construction for red fabric is to waste time because when we sew something red – colour is the main thing to demonstrate :-)) That’s why I chose this blouse which I didn’t like when saw it in the magazine first time. But when looking for the pattern yet changed my opinion and am very glad with it. Quick, effective and universal blouse is worthy making. I changed the processing of the edges for usual, you can read about that here

The blouse is paired with a couple of old things and with a new skirt, some tips for sewing are here.
I like the skirt but would recommend to make it from better draping fabric than I used.
All the jewelry was made by myself, too.

Material Notes

Stretch satin. I decided to use the glossy side as the wrong, the colour looks more saturated and deep in this way. Besides, I was absolutely short of the fabric, I had only 1.80 cm x 1m so had to make the reliefs on the back. If I had made the blouse on the shining side, the different direction of the details cutting would be remarkable.
Stretch suiting for the skirt #115 from Burda 12/2015.

I totally agree with you about the blouse pattern, I would never make it BUT it’s really perfect for your red fabric. The skirt pattern is one of my favourite ones. Great outfit!

You’re right red needs simplicity. This is lovely and goes great with all your previous wonderful pieces. Last week I bought an amazing red wrap dress from an op shop for 50 cents.

Like you I’ve changed my opinion about this pattern lately; must be because I spotted a lot of this kind of sleeve on various AW/16 fashion shows! I like your version, red looks perfect. Now I must try it ;-)

:-)) Thank you very much. I am really glad. Puff sleeves, generally, classic, but they are not always the fashion hit… I agree that sometimes such sleeves can be fails: they don’t suit everybody. But in this case the balance between the width of the sleeve and depth of the pleats is pretty nice not to make puffs too… obtrusive (if it is possible to say). So I recommend the pattern.

You made the perfect blouse not only for spring but for every season! It looks adorable especially when tacked in. My favorite outfit is the red-black as it gives to this cute blouse a sofisticated note, very chic! This doesn’t mean that the grey skirt or the pants are less pretty! All fabulous Oksana but the blouse is top of the top p.s. Did you cut the sleeves on the bias as the pattern suggested?

Yes, you are right. It is good for any season but it is pretty cold here to wear it in winter… at least at my work. The blouse pairs well with whatever indeed because of the colour and simplicity.
P.S. No I cut along the straight grain. If to cut on the bias, the sleeves’s shape will be too draping and won’t keep the shape if the sleeve is wise and if it is narrow it will fit arms too tight. For soft fabrics it is not so good… at least I don’t like it and never do for puff sleeves.

Thank you, Rita, very much and thank for the term “dull” for non-glossy side of the fabric. I was thinking how to say it correctly but then gave up:-) Now I know!
