Description

this skirt is made from an old umbrella i had. i liked the pattern on the umbrella and didn’t like the idea of throwing it away as i’d only bought the umbrella quite recently before it broke. so, i decided to pull it apart and see if i could make a skirt out of it. i removed the nylon shell of the umbrella and unpicked the seams until i could pull it on over my hips, but thought the length was too short. so, i restitched the seams a bit, but made sure i could still pull it on over my head (strange way to put on a skirt, i know, but it was the only way to make it a reasonable length). i then got out some old excess cotton i had to make a waistband, which doubles as a side tied sash.
although it did involve some trial and error, this was a surprisingly easy skirt to make. i’m not sure how much i’ll wear it as i made it more to see if i could make it, but i’m definitely very happy with the outcome.

That is so creative! I think you should wear it proudly and tell everyone that you made a skirt from an umbrella! Wonderful!
